ABOUT

City Ballet of San Diego, "City Ballet" for short, began in 1993 and has flourished under the guidance of Artistic Director, Steven Wistrich, Choreographer, Elizabeth Wistrich, and General Manager, Jo Anne Emery. City Ballet is acclaimed for its high level of artistic competence, which has propelled it to success. Offering a full season of concerts at its home theater, the historical Spreckels Theatre, as well as education and community programs, City Ballet is devoted to the advancement of ballet as a major art form in San Diego. Resident Music Director, John Nettles, joined City Ballet in 2006, transforming the experience for thousands of ballet fans and performance attendees by forming City Ballet Orchestra, which incorporated the rich texture of live musical performance to accompany the dancers.
